Exporting data for FEA

Data in GRANTA MI can be exported for use in a range of CAE and CAD systems including  Abaqus/CAE, ANSYS Workbench, CATIA, Creo, and Nastran.

The available FEA exporters in MI:Viewer will depend on your installation. The exporters themselves are database- and table-specific, so you will only ever see exporters that are relevant for the data you have selected.

To export data for FEA

1. To export just the current datasheet, on the Tools menu, click Export to text file.   Watch a video

   To export multiple records at the same time, add them to the Record list and then click Export on the Reports page.   Watch a video

   If the Export button is greyed out, it means that there are no exporters available for the currently selected data.

2. On the Export page, select an exporter from the list of available exporters for different packages and models, then click Next.
3. If more than one version of the selected exporter is available, the next page will allow you to choose the version you want to use. Click Next to continue.
4. On the Export Options page, enter any required information or parameter values,  then click Next.
5. On the Exported Data page, you can see the data to be exported and copy it directly to the FE package, if required. You can also edit the data here.

   Note that very large export files (>1MB) cannot be displayed in this view or copied to the clipboard. In this case, you will need to save the output to disk to complete the export.

6. Click Save To Disk or Copy To Clipboard.
