Impersonation

Users with administrator privileges for GRANTA MI can impersonate users at either a system or a database level, for example, to allow access checks to be carried out against a user's identity. The Impersonation tools are accessed from Settings > Impersonation.

The current user's roles are reported at the bottom of this page.

To perform impersonation

  1. On the toolbar, click Settings and then click on the Impersonation tab.
  2. Under System User Roles to impersonate, select the system user role: Read, Write, Grant, Power User, or Admin.

Users in the Admin or Grant roles can see all data in the database.

  3. Under Database user roles to impersonate, select a database and a database security group, if implemented in the selected database.
  4. For Read or Write users, you can specify the required access control permissions by selecting/clearing the check boxes.
  5. Click Perform Impersonation.

You can now use MI:Viewer with the access restrictions that you have specified. A warning is displayed at the top of the main page to remind you that you are working in "impersonation mode" and  operating with restricted privileges.

To restore your GRANTA MI administrator privileges
