Update database home pages

Home page files for a database are stored in the database, and managed in MI:Admin with the Schema tool.

When new or modified database home pages have been uploaded to the database in MI:Admin, the updated files must be copied (or "fetched") from the database to the MI:Viewer application server in order to make them available to MI:Viewer users. Users with system or database Admin privileges can do this from the Admin > General page in MI:Viewer.

To update the database home page files in MI:Viewer

  1. In the MI:Viewer toolbar, click Admin.
  2. On the General tab, under Home page files, click Re-fetch home page files.
  3. All database home page files are copied from the database(s) into a subfolder in the MI:Viewer installation folder; in a default installation, this is:

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\mi\homepagefiles\<database key>

For example, the home page for the MI_Training database in a typical installation will be located in:

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MI\homepagefiles\MI_Training_11.0.0.

The structure of files and folders will be reproduced in the MI:Viewer folder when the home page is copied into the MI:Viewer. The folder is published as a standard web folder.

Note that any files that were previously in the homepagefiles subfolder will be deleted when the new files are copied in.
